To Achieve your Goals Faster Takes Serious Focus.
Most people are chasing dreams or goals whether they realize it. You’ve heard the saying “do what you love” but most people haven’t experienced enough to know what that is. This journey may get a little stressful while you are trying to figure out what you want but it is worth it.

Universal goals:
- Going to college
- Getting a job
- Getting married
- Buying a house
No matter if the goal is big or small, everyone wants to achieve something in life. However, it’s hard to get past the rough times in order to achieve your goals if you don’t have a strong reason(s) to continue.
Sometimes, in between your struggles, you reach that tipping point where you do not want to do anything anymore. You can certainly give up on your goals by repeatedly saying “I’m done!” This happens because getting over your failures is hard and may take a while. But failures cause you to think about your decision-making/actions and that’s when growth happens. It’s your life lessons from the past that help you grow over time if you do not repeat them.
The purpose of goals is to get from point A to B so that you can achieve your ultimate goal. But most big goals require a lot of smaller ones first because remember you have to start from where you are. If you want to be a doctor, you just can go straight to medical school, at least not in America. You have to get a bachelor’s degree first then take the MCAT and pass to get into medical school. Everything requires steps and those steps are goals.
11 ways to achieve your goals faster
1. Set Smarter Goals
Setting smarter goals gives you a baseline from where you are currently. This helps you avoid setting yourself up for failure by taking too large of a leap, instead of starting from where you are today. To set smarter goals, you’ll need to incorporate the following elements; specificity, deadlines, measurability, relevance, and achievability to each goal. In addition, you’ll need to constantly reevaluate and readjust your goals from time to time.
2. Create a Plan of Action
Another important strategy to achieve your goals is planning. Yet a lot of people still fail to create a detailed plan for what they want to do in life. If you’re like me, you may struggle with a little bit of laziness which slows you down but now is a good time to push yourself.
Keeping everything in your mind will make it hard to accomplish most things so you need to write down your goals and the plans to achieve them. The plan needs to be somewhere you can see them all the time. A mirror, make into a picture for your wall, use a dry erase board or poster board.
3. Eliminate Bad Habits
Bad habits get in the way of achieving your goals, they stop your progress and affect your life greatly. If you want to achieve something worthwhile you need to identify your bad habits. Then find a strong reason to get rid of them this is a challenging thing to do but this is necessary if you want to achieve your goals faster.
4. Instill Self-discipline
Discipline is necessary for you to achieve your goals faster. If you lack self-discipline, then any task will seem overwhelming. The shortest way to becoming a self-disciplined person is by adopting good habits. The habits may include going to bed and waking up early, eating healthy, exercising, practicing gratitude, and most importantly believing in yourself can also become a habit.
5. Distract your Distractions
Distractions are unavoidable and will slow down your progress. The most common distraction is social media, laptops, mobile phones, and the internet and Television. It becomes really hard to be productive throughout the day because of distractions and they can make you lazy. Laziness and distractions will keep you stuck in a miserable life and in the long run, will make you disappointed in yourself.
Be aware of them, control them and use your social media as a tool, not as a distraction, it can help you achieve your goals or the flip side is it can help keep you where you are.
6. Leverage daily goals settings
To stay focused and on track, you need to set up your daily goals. This can be challenging for a person with a hectic lifestyle, and problems can distract you from your goals. However, you can stay focused on your goals by setting up a daily ritual/habit of looking at your goals deleting the ones that are completed, and adding new ones.
7. Avoid Procrastination
Do you want to achieve something worthwhile? Well, you need to find a way to limit or end procrastination. Stepping out of your comfort zone and eliminating habits that are keeping you stuck is called growth and taking a stand for your life. Self-discipline can do wonders for helping you accomplish your goals/dreams. Remember, procrastination is one of your biggest enemies and a killer of dreams.
SIGNS OF PROCRASTINATION
- You keep saying tomorrow I’ll do it.
- It’s been months and you haven’t started writing down your goals
- You start working on something but it’s never good enough
- You can’t make a decision, this answer is always “I don’t know.”
- You use excuses for why something isn’t done yet.
8. Manage your Time
One of the most effective strategies for achieving goals faster is time management. Managing your time goes back to habits and procrastination. Those who can manage their time will see results in record time, this doesn’t mean it won’t still take a while but you will feel good knowing you’re on track.
9. Chase the Frog
Mark Twain said, “If it is your job to eat a frog, it’s best to do it first thing in the morning. And if it is your job to eat two frogs, it is best to eat the biggest one first”. What this means is whatever you are doing, do the thing which is the biggest in the bucket first. The purpose of this strategy is to see bigger results faster.
10. Welcome failure
This may not be seen as an effective strategy, but for most people, there’s always failure before success. Try to embrace it, give it a warm welcome so you can learn/grow from it, and fail fast. The quicker you fail the faster you’ll succeed.
11. Find a Mentor
There are many difficult paths in life. You dive into the sea, make your way through the waves, yet still fail to get to the other side. Facing uncertainty is hard. Instead of worrying, find a mentor who’s traveled the path you’re on because they know the risk that lies ahead and how to avoid them.
